Car history: |
09/29/2014 1971 Corvette base engine coupe with automatic turbo 400 transmission and factory air. Car has 119,000 miles on the odometer but the original matching number engine was rebuilt 4,100 miles ago to exact factory specifications with accompanying receipts. The car has one repaint to the original Brands Hatch Green color and is easily a 9.5. The car looks like it was painted last week and is stunning. You will not find a better paint job short of a recent Bloomington Gold car priced 20,000 dollars more. As the pictures show the frame is solid with no rust on it or the birdcage. All the vacuum systems works as they should including the wiper doors and headlights. The vehicle hasn't seen rain in 25 years and it shows. It looks like a frame from a two year old car not a four decades old one. The brakes are stainless steel and work perfectly. The windshield is the date coded original and has no scuff marks or stone chips, it looks brand new. Additionally, when the alternator and the starter needed attention years ago the originals were rebuilt, not substituted with a parts store generic replacement. So just like the engine are matching number originals that equipped the car when it rolled off the assembly line 43 years ago. It is equipped with the optional black deluxe factory leather interior that too is in outstanding condition with no rips or tears and the carpet is like new. The door panels are in excellent condition also with none of the cracks in the armrests as is sometimes typical. The optional factory air conditioning system has been professionally converted to R-134 Freon and actually blows colder than my 2013 Toyota Avalon. The pictures show the temperature for each car with the Corvette blowing colder by a few degrees that the newer car. The car is also equipped with factory power brakes and power steering and both perform flawlessly. The transmission shifts perfectly and the engine runs as it did the day it was made with no smoke or leaks. The rear differential is the economical factory equipped 3:08 ratio. I just drove it on a 300 mile trip and got 20 MPG. Equipped also with rare shoulder harnesses, power windows, tilt wheel, locking gas cap and rear window defogger. The exhaust is nearly new and all the gauges, even the clock, work correctly. Comes with an original owners manual and it appears the tank sticker is still mounted on the tank. The vehicle is stunning to look at and a lot of fun to drive. |
